Job Summary
We are seeking a diligent, organised, and detail oriented Account Officer to join its finance team.
The successful candidate will support the school’s financial operations by maintaining accurate records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, monitoring payments, and providing timely financial information to the School Bursar and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with audit preparation and provide relevant financial records when required.
- Perform regular bank, cashbook, and ledger reconciliations.
- Verify financial documents and ensure transactions are properly authorised and supported.
- Record and process daily financial transactions accurately.
- Maintain accurate and up to date financial records and filing systems.
- Support the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive financial information.
- Assist in preparing periodic financial reports and financial summaries.
- Liaise with parents, vendors, staff, and other stakeholders regarding routine financial enquiries.
- Assist with monitoring school fee payments and outstanding balances.
- Assist with payroll preparation and other routine accounting activities as required.
- Perform other accounting duties assigned by the School Bursar or management.
- Prepare receipts, payment vouchers, invoices, and other relevant financial documents.
- Monitor petty cash and maintain proper documentation for all petty cash transactions.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Experience using accounting software is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- 5 to 8years’ relevant accounting experience.
- Previous experience in a school or educational environment will be an advantage.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of integrity.
