Job Summary
The role requires a commercially minded accounting professional with strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and the ability to manage multiple financial deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing monthly management accounts, managing tax and statutory compliance, performing reconciliations, supporting external audits, and monitoring internal financial controls.
Our client is seeking a meticulous and qualified Accountant to manage its day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls to safeguard company assets
- Coordinate and support the annual external audit, preparing all required audit schedules
- Liaise with banks, FIRS, and other regulatory bodies on routine financial and compliance matters
- Prepare monthly management accounts including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
- Maintain the fixed asset register and compute depreciation in line with company policy
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements and resolve outstanding items
- Compute and remit monthly PAYE, VAT, withholding tax, pension, and NSITF contributions within statutory deadlines
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in the organisation's accounting system
- Prepare quarterly budget-versus-actual variance analyses and report key findings to management
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions and perform regular reconciliations
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws including CITA, PITA, and VAT Act
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously without compromising quality.
- Minimum of 4 -7 years of relevant accounting
Experience
in a structured organization
Thorough understanding of FIRS as applicable to financial statement preparation
ICAN Associate member or active ICAN/ACCA student with significant examinations completed
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and financial modelling
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
