Summary
The candidate should have knowledge of accounting principles, attention to detail, and experience in a manufacturing, Commodities trading, logistics, or FMCG environment.
We are seeking an Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, support financial reporting, ensure statutory compliance, and assist management with financial analysis and decision-making.

Key Accountabilities
- Accounting & Financial Operations:
- Handle day-to-day transactions, including receipts, payments, journals, and ledger postings.
- Monitor cash and bank transactions and assist with cash-flow management.
- Maintain books of accounts and accounting records.
- Maintain documentation and filing of financial records.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable and follow up on time.
- Maintain the General Ledger and ensure proper classification of transactions.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Financial Reporting:
- Analyse expenses, revenues, and variances.
- Ensure reports are accurate and submitted on time.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support month-end and year-end closing.
- Assist in preparing Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statements, and other management reports.
- Prepare monthly financial schedules and management information.
- Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
- Identify variances and explain them to management.
- Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets.
- Support cost-control initiatives.
- Tax & Statutory Compliance:
- Maintain documentation for tax, audit, and regulatory purposes.
- Coordinate with auditors and tax consultants when required.
- Ensure records comply with Nigerian accounting and tax requirements.
- Assist in preparing and filing statutory and tax returns.
- Audit & Internal Controls:
- Identify control weaknesses and recommend corrective measures.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies and internal controls.
- Assist in implementing procedures to reduce financial errors and losses.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide required information.
- Inventory & Operational Accounting:
- Maintain accounting records for inventory and stock movements.
- Work with Procurement, Stores, Production, Logistics, and Operations for accurate financial recording.
- Reconcile physical inventory with accounting records.
- Monitor inventory valuation and investigate discrepancies.
Requirements
- Manufacturing, FMCG, commodities trading, agriculture, or logistics experience preferred.
- 5 - 8 years of accounting/finance experience.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
- Understanding of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
- ICAN / ACCA / CIMA qualification or part-qualification is an advantage.
- Experience in General Ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, payables, receivables, and month-end closing.
- MS Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Able to work with Finance, Procurement, Stores, Production, Logistics, and other departments.
