This is NOT a sit-down-and-wait accounting role.
Our client, a growing distributor of Innovative construction and civil engineering products, is looking for a smart & reliable and Accountant / Store Keeper to take ownership of its financial records, tax compliance and inventory operations.
The successful candidate will be trusted with the numbers behind the business—from daily transactions and reconciliations to VAT, WHT, CIT, stock movement and management reporting.
And because the company currently operates without dedicated accounting software, you must be genuinely comfortable managing accounting and inventory records using Microsoft Excel.
Your Mission
You will be responsible for ensuring:
Every stock movement is documented
Every transaction is properly recorded
Every tax obligation is tracked and met on time
Every naira is accounted for
Every product in the store can be traced
Management always has a clear picture of the company’s financial and stock position.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting & Bookeeping:
- Maintain proper financial documentation and filing
- Prepare weekly/monthly financial reports
- Perform cash and bank reconciliations
- Maintain accurate books, cashbook and financial records
- Record sales, purchases, expenses, receipts and payments
- Monitor receivables and payables
- Track income, expenditure and cash flow
- Tax & Statutory Compliance:
- Track tax payment and filing deadlines
- Prepare and maintain tax schedules and supporting documents
- Handle records relating to VAT, WHT and CIT in accordance with CURRENT TAX laws
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants and relevant agencies when required.
- Maintain tax compliance records and certificates
- Store & Inventory:
- Maintain accurate stock records
- Investigate shortages, damages and discrepancies
- Receive, record and issue products/materials
- Ensure products are properly arranged, labelled and safely stored.
- Track stock received, issued, transferred and returned
- Monitor stock levels and alert management when replenishment is required
- Conduct physical stock counts and reconciliations
- Excel & Management Reporting
- Build and maintain Excel-based accounting and inventory records
- Prepare bank, cash, stock and tax reconciliation schedules
- Track sales, expenses, stock, receivables, payables and tax obligations
- Produce clear reports that management can actually use.
- Who We Are Looking For
- You should have:
Experience
in accounting, inventory or store management is an advantage
Practical bookkeeping/accounting
Ability to reconcile figures and identify discrepancies
Working knowledge of Nigerian VAT, WHT and CIT
in trading, distribution, construction, building materials or civil engineering will be an added advantage.
HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
