Ereyi Ventures Nigeria Limited is an indigenous Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Logistics (EPCL) contractor providing integrated technical services to the Nigerian oil and gas industry. The company brings a multidisciplinary team of engineering, inspection, and construction professionals to deliver brownfield and greenfield projects across onshore and offshore facilities, with a focus on asset integrity, tank and vessel upgrades, mechanical and instrumentation works, and terminal automation. Leveraging local content expertise alongside international codes and standards (API, ASME, NACE/AMPP, and IEC), Ereyi Ventures is positioned to execute the Automated Crude Oil Storage Tanks Upgrade and Repair Services at an offshore terminal, combining indigenous capacity with the technical rigor required for safety-critical hydrocarbon storage infrastructure.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Role Objective

Act as the competent tank inspection authority for condition assessment, repair acceptance and return-to-service certification of aboveground crude-oil storage tanks.

Core Roles and

Responsibilities

• Witness and approve repair welding, patch plate installation, and floor/roof replacement work for code compliance prior to tank return-to-service.
• Plan and execute in-service and out-of-service API 653 inspections of crude oil storage tanks, including shell, floor, roof, and appurtenance assessment.
• Review and interpret NDT results (UT thickness surveys, MFL floor scans, vacuum box testing) to assess tank fitness-for-service and remaining corrosion allowance.
• Maintain the tank inspection history file and long-term integrity management/RBI (Risk-Based Inspection) data for the storage tank fleet.
• Prepare formal Tank Inspection Reports, including settlement surveys (per API 653 Annex B), corrosion rate calculations, and minimum required thickness determinations.
• Determine tank inspection intervals and repair/alteration

Requirements

• in accordance with API 653, API 650, and API 575.
• Liaise with NUPRC and other regulatory bodies on tank integrity compliance documentation as required.
• Issue engineering recommendations for repair, alteration, or re-rating of tanks, coordinating directly with the Pressure Vessel Engineer/API 510 Inspector, Structural Engineer, and Metallurgist where cross-discipline input is required.
• Qualifications and
• This is the single sign-off authority for tank fitness-for-service; the certification bar is intentionally uncompromising.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of API 579 (Fitness-For-Service) sufficient to independently perform Level 1 assessments — Level 2/3 FFS training/certification will be scored significantly higher.
• B.Eng./B.Sc. in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Petroleum Engineering, minimum Second Class Upper, from an accredited university.
• Minimum three (3) documented, independently verifiable full tank out-of-service inspection projects led as lead inspector (not assistant), each on tanks of 10,000 bbl capacity or greater, with client reference letters naming the specific tanks and dates.
• Current, valid API 653 (Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector) certification issued by the American Petroleum Institute — certification must not be due for renewal within twelve (12) months of the contract start date.
• Additionally mandatory: valid API 570 (Piping Inspector) OR API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector) certification as a secondary credential — single-certification candidates (API 653 only) will not be considered for this role given the cross-discipline nature of the terminal.
• Minimum five (5) years offshore/marine terminal
• Qualifications and professional certifications must be issued by recognised bodies, current where applicable, and independently verifiable. Expired, unverifiable or attendance-only certificates will not satisfy a mandatory requirement.

Experience

specifically (inland tank farm

alone does not satisfy the offshore requirement of this role).

Valid BOSIET/HUET, offshore medical fitness certificate, and full readiness for extended rotational offshore deployment.

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI - AWS) as an additional, mandatory qualification, given the extent of weld repair oversight required on this scope.

Must successfully complete a written and practical technical assessment (including live interpretation of UT/MFL scan data and settlement survey calculations) during the interview process.

Ten (10) years cumulative

in storage tank inspection within the oil & gas industry, of which no fewer than five (5) years must be post-API 653 certification, hands-on, chargeable inspection work (not administrative/QA oversight only).

Mandatory

on comparable oil and gas projects. Generic construction

without direct tank, terminal, refinery, process-plant or offshore exposure will not be accepted.

Candidates must be able to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, permits, risk assessments and applicable codes, and must produce clear technical reports in English.
