We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Area Sales Manager – General Trade (FMCG: Soaps & Detergents)
Location: Lagos
Responsibilites
Distributor De-Stocking & Re-Stocking: Audit distributor warehouses, eliminate stock bottlenecks, manage credit/order cycles, and keep distributor capital turning fast.
Territory Expansion: Drive aggressive numeric distribution across open markets distributors, retailers, and traditional open-market wholesalers.
Primary & Secondary Velocity: Drive distributor re-orders (Primary) by ensuring their field inventory actively moves out to retail outlets and open markets (Secondary).
Trade Activations & Marketing Support: Partner with the commercial marketing team to execute trade promotions, open-market activations, point-of-sale visibility, and product sampling.
Field Team Leadership: Lead, deploy, and field-coach sales representatives and field agents daily. Enforce beat route discipline, call rates, and active outlet coverage.
Requirements
- Who We Need:
- Field Ownership: A leader who spends 80% of their time in the field with reps, not behind a computer.
- 4–6+ years of direct FMCG general trade field sales experience (Soaps, detergent, home care, or personal care experience is a massive advantage).
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated history of hitting primary/secondary volume targets and managing distributor relationships in Lagos.
- Route-To-Market Master: Deep operational knowledge of Lagos retail corridors, distributor margins, and sales rep management.
- Compensation
- Competitive Base Salary + Performance Commission + Conveyance (Float) Allowance.
- Salary: N350,000 - N450,000 / month.
