Job Summary
The successful candidate would be responsible for managing day-to-day banking operations, customer transactions, cash management, funds transfers, deposit mobilization, and loan monitoring and recovery.
The role ensures that financial transactions are processed accurately, customer accounts are properly maintained, cash is effectively controlled, and overdue loan obligations are actively monitored and recovered.
They are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Banking Operations & Credit Officer to join our team.
Our client is seeking a competent, detail-oriented Banking Operations & Credit Officer to join its team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field visits and periodic/surprise visits to borrowers to monitor business activities and repayment capacity.
- Receive and verify customer instructions and supporting documents before processing transactions.
- Ensure compliance with established banking policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Serve as a Bulk Teller, Paying Teller, Clearing Officer, Customer Service Officer or Cash Officer as required.
- Follow up with borrowers to ensure timely repayment of outstanding obligations.
- Conduct customer interviews to understand their businesses and recommend appropriate account types and banking services.
- Support the reduction of Portfolio at Risk (PAR) through effective monitoring and recovery activities.
- Ensure all transactions are accurately posted as credits or debits to customer accounts.
- Mobilize deposits and promote savings, investments, fixed deposits and other banking products.
- Prepare and maintain accurate operational, cash and credit-related records and reports.
- Maintain proper records of loan repayments, outstanding balances and delinquent accounts.
- Receive loan repayment funds and ensure accurate posting to customer accounts.
- Manage cash movements between tellers, the vault and correspondent banks while maintaining approved cash limits.
- Monitor loan accounts, overdue payments and delinquent customer accounts.
- Assist with account opening, documentation, cheque-book issuance, and other customer account services.
- Process funds transfers, standing orders, salary payments, and other bulk payment instructions.
- Process deposits, withdrawals, cash payments, cheque clearing, and other customer transactions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers while working toward assigned business and deposit mobilization targets.
Requirements
CIBN Levels 1 & 2 is an advantage.
Ability to meet operational and sales targets within deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience in banking operations, customer service, cash management and/or credit management.
Knowledge of accounting/banking software.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Bachelor's Degree / HND in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
High level of accuracy, integrity and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
Good knowledge of loan monitoring and recovery processes.
Salary: N250,000 - N300,000 / month.
