Job Summary
Our client is a well-established Nigerian manufacturing group in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector seeking to appoint an exceptional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Executive Leadership Team.
Candidates residing outside Ilorin who are open to relocating will be considered.
This is a strategic leadership role requiring an accomplished finance executive who can provide financial stewardship while driving business growth, strengthening corporate governance, optimizing capital, and partnering with the Board and Chief Executive Officer to achieve the organization's long-term vision.
This position is based in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The successful candidate will possess not only outstanding technical finance expertise but also strong commercial acumen, executive leadership capability, and an extensive professional network that can support strategic financing, banking relationships, investment opportunities, and sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- The Chief Financial Officer will provide strategic leadership across all financial operations of the Group and will be responsible for:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the Group's financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Leadership Team.
- Drive financial transformation and operational excellence across the organization.
- Provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making, business expansion, investments, and profitability.
- Financial Management:
- Oversee treasury, liquidity management, cash flow optimization, and working capital management.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, performance management, and financial analysis.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of statutory and management financial reports.
- Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives and capital investments.
- Capital & Funding:
- Lead capital raising initiatives and financing negotiations.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, business expansion, and other strategic investment opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial banks, development finance institutions, investors, private equity firms, and other strategic funding partners.
- Governance, Risk & Compliance:
- Strengthen internal controls, enterprise risk management, and financial policies across the organization.
- Ensure full compliance with IFRS, tax regulations, statutory requirements, and corporate governance standards.
- Oversee external audits, tax planning, regulatory reporting, and compliance activities.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Boards, investors, financial institutions, regulators, auditors, and key external stakeholders.
- Represent the organization during executive, financial, and strategic engagements.
- Leadership:
- Drive organizational discipline through sound financial leadership and effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success in financial strategy, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, corporate finance, taxation, and enterprise risk management.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, financial transformation initiatives, and digital finance processes.
- Strong experience within manufacturing, preferably pharmaceutical, healthcare, FMCG, industrial manufacturing, or other complex multi-entity organizations.
- Experience engaging Boards of Directors and Executive Leadership Teams on strategic business matters.
- MBA, MSc, or other relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 15–20 years' progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a Chief Financial Officer, Finance Director, Group Head of Finance, or equivalent executive finance leadership position.
- Proven experience leading capital raising initiatives, financing negotiations, banking relationships, and investment transactions.
- Deep understanding of IFRS, corporate governance, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN (FCA/ACA), ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is mandatory.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
