The Youth and Women Peacebuilding Foundation (YAWP Foundation) is a Nigerian-based non-profit organisation incorporated in May 2026, dedicated to building lasting peace and empowering vulnerable communities. We focus on youth, women, and other marginalised groups in fragile and conflict-affected areas. Ouroverall goal is to promote sustainable peace, reduce conflict and violence, and empower individuals and communities, especially youth, women, and vulnerable groups, to achieve economic self-reliance and social cohesion through inclusive development and livelihood opportunities.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Purpose
The Communications and Media Officer will lead and support the Foundation's internal and external communication, media engagement, digital storytelling, and visibility activities.
The position will also support the Foundation's social media platforms, website, publications, campaigns, events, and documentation of programme activities.
The officer will be responsible for developing and sharing compelling, accurate, ethical, and audience-friendly content that communicates YAWP Foundation's programmes, achievements, impact, and advocacy messages to communities, partners, donors, government stakeholders, media organisations, and the general public.
Key Responsibilities
- Communications and Content Development:
- Develop human-interest stories, success stories, case studies, testimonials, programme updates, and impact stories.
- Develop and implement communications and visibility plans in line with YAWP Foundation's strategic objectives.
- Ensure consistency in the use of the Foundation's name, logo, messaging, and visual identity.
- Prepare high-quality content for social media, website, newsletters, reports, brochures, press releases, and other communication materials.
- Translate technical programme information into clear and engaging content for different audiences.
- Social Media and Digital Communications:
- Monitor audience engagement, comments, messages, reach, and other relevant social media analytics.
- Maintain and update website content in collaboration with relevant staff.
- Manage and regularly update the Foundation's social media platforms.
- Develop a content calendar and schedule regular posts.
- Identify appropriate opportunities for increasing the Foundation's digital visibility and public engagement.
- Create engaging content including graphics, photographs, short videos, captions, infographics, and campaign materials.
- Media Relations and Publicity:
- Maintain an up-to-date media contact database.
- Coordinate media coverage of selected YAWP Foundation events and programme activities.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with journalists, media houses, bloggers, and relevant communication networks.
- Monitor media coverage relating to the Foundation's work and relevant peacebuilding, youth, women, livelihood, and community development issues.
- Prepare press releases, media advisories, statements, talking points, and other media materials.
- Programme Documentation:
- Ensure appropriate consent is obtained before using photographs, videos, interviews, or personal stories.
- Attend selected field activities to collect photographs, interviews, testimonials, videos, and other communication materials.
- Work closely with programme teams to document activities, results, lessons learned, and human-interest stories.
- Develop communication products that demonstrate programme results and impact.
- Events and Campaigns:
- Develop event materials such as banners, invitations, programmes, certificates, social media cards, press releases, and post-event stories.
- Support the communication and visibility aspects of workshops, trainings, conferences, campaigns, community dialogues, and public events.
- Support media coordination during major organizational events.
- Contribute to awareness campaigns on peacebuilding, women and youth leadership, conflict prevention, social cohesion, livelihoods, and related issues.
- Reports and Publications:
- Contribute communications sections to programme and donor reports.
- Develop quarterly or periodic communications and visibility reports.
- Support the preparation, editing, formatting, and production of organizational publications.
- Maintain an organized digital archive of photographs, videos, publications, media coverage, and other communication materials.
- Branding, Safeguarding and Ethical Communications;
- Ensure communications are respectful, inclusive, gender-sensitive, conflict-sensitive, and culturally appropriate.
- Avoid content that could expose beneficiaries, particularly children and vulnerable persons, to stigma, retaliation, discrimination, or security risks.
- Ensure all communication materials comply with YAWP Foundation's branding and visibility requirements.
- Apply safeguarding, confidentiality, informed consent, and "do no harm" principles when collecting and publishing stories and images.

Experience
Essential:
Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.

Willingness to travel to project locations when required.
At least 2 years of relevant professional
in communications, media, journalism, public relations, digital communications, or a similar role.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Good understanding of photography, video documentation, and basic graphic design.
Demonstrated
managing social media platforms and developing digital content.
Bachelor's degree or HND in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Media Studies, Development Communication, or a related field.
Desirable:
in peacebuilding, youth development, women's empowerment, conflict prevention, livelihoods, or community development.

Knowledge of social media analytics and digital campaign management.
