Job Title: Cost Accounting Officer
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
The successful candidate will help monitor manufacturing expenses, minimize material wastage, improve cost efficiency, and provide accurate financial information to support business decisions.
We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Cost Accountant with 2–3 years of experience in the manufacturing industry to manage production costing, inventory valuation, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain product costing sheets, bills of materials (BOM), and cost estimates.
- Calculate and monitor product costs, including raw materials, direct labour, and manufacturing overheads.
- Prepare periodic cost reports, profitability analyses, and management reports.
- Collaborate with Production, Procurement, Warehouse, and Finance to ensure accurate cost records and material accountability.
- Track raw material consumption, production wastage, rework, and finished goods costs.
- Analyse actual production costs against budgets and standards, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Reconcile inventory records and support the valuation of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and support budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting.
Requirements
ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or progress toward a professional qualification is an advantage.
HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, integrity, and problem-solving abilities.
Practical experience in production costing, inventory accounting, cost analysis, and variance reporting.
2–3 years of relevant experience, and experience in the manufacturing industry is mandatory.
Knowledge of bills of materials, manufacturing overheads, and inventory valuation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software or ERP systems.
Salary: N350,000 monthly.
