Job Summary
The state facilitator will work closely with the Ministry of Education and SUBEB partners in the field to provide effective coordination and monitoring of the implementation of all activities under the Education work plans and contribute to strengthening the education system.
The facilitator will deploy knowledge and experience to create momentum at the LGA, community, and school levels in the quality and timely implementation of planned activities
The engagement of the Education state facilitator (Benue) is to ensure that the implementation of Education programme especially the Accelerated Basic Education Program in hard-to-reach areas is monitored, and quality assured to deliver the expected results.
The facilitator will ensure the effective facilitation in the implementation and coordination of equitable access to quality learning for all children in the different LGAs, track progress, document results, develop recommendations for progress, and ensure resources are utilized judiciously for intended purposes.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
The assignment will entail the Facilitator to effectively contribute to coordination and monitoring of the implementation of all UNICEF supported education activities and contribute to the overall results of the Enugu Field Office workplan, in partnership with state education agencies.
The Facilitators shall carry out the following tasks in fulfilling the expectations of the post:
Report any actual or potential acts of misappropriation, abuse, misuse, or deviation from implementation plans to the supervisor.
Document lessons learned and best practices, producing monthly stories, including Human Interest Stories and Picture stories at least twice a year.
Work closely with MOE, and SUBEB officials to ensure timely completion (based on the agreed timeframe) of Annual School census data collection, processing, data cleaning, data merging, and analysis. Standard statistics reports generation, and dissemination of gender disaggregated results.
Provide technical support to the ABEP centers across the IDP camps and host community centers and ensure quality delivery of the program.

Document and report the reach and impact of UNICEF interventions weekly using a pre-aggregated template.
Conduct quality assurance activities at LGA, Community and School levels to ensure quality of the implementation of interventions, under the guidance of the Education Specialist
Maintain up-to-date and accurate records/database on UNICEF education programme implementation across the three output areas in the state and ensure effective and timely information reporting as required.
Liaise with MOE, and SUBEB officials to provide technical support to strengthen capacity of staff at LGEA level for effective coordination of different interventions including Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Nigerian Learning Passport, Digital NEMIS, Out of
In consultation with the Education Specialist, regularly monitor education activities in the state and collect data to support effective reporting.
Any other duty as may be assigned by the Supervisor
Deliverables
Spend 40% of the time on reporting and 60% on the field for Monitoring and stakeholders engagement.
Monthly monitoring and mentoring of Facilitators and mentors of the newly established ABEPmcenters in terms of quality teaching.
Weekly engagement with education stakeholders both at the state and local government level to increase access and improve quality of education in the state
Timely submission of bi-weekly activity progress reports as well as contributing to monthly and emerging reports on specific interventions.
Jointly with UNICEF Education Specialists, develop a Monthly work plan detailing how key task will be conducted each month.
Capacity building for school, LGA and state level education stakeholders/partners implemented based on assessed gaps and needs
Requirements
- Education Background:
- A first Degree in education or Higher National Diploma Social Sciences, Economics, or related fields
- Must be computer literate with an excellent knowledge of data management
- Language:
- Fluency in the English language and good English writing skills. Fluency in TiV/Idoma which is the language of the immediate environment where the Facilitator is deployed is an added advantage.
Experience
Good understanding of community involvement and participation and experience working in North central Nigeria, preferably in Benue
Skills in using Microsoft Office especially Excel is a must.
Able to work effectively in a multicultural environment, set high standards for
quality of work, and consistently achieve project goals
Experience working with UN or NGO programmes/projects is an asset.
At least 5 years of experience and demonstrated ability in supporting education programs either development or humanitarian with focus on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy and the Accelerated Basic Education Program
Experience working in a humanitarian context is an asset
Strong analytical skills using diverse and complex quantitative and qualitative data
Demonstrates, applies, and shares technical knowledge.
Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, to a varied audience.
Experience working on inclusive education and the Education Management
