Job Summary
The role supports safe manufacturing operations, environmental responsibility, and the health and well-being of employees and contractors.
The EHS Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving environmental, health, and safety systems within the homecare products manufacturing facility to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements, company standards, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement across the factory.
- Support internal and external audits, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GMP, and applicable FMCG standards.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to manufacturing and chemical handling.
- Conduct risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and hazard identification for plant operations.
- Monitor environmental aspects including effluent, emissions, waste management, and chemical storage.
- Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and programs in line with regulatory and company requirements.
- Maintain EHS documentation, permits, registers, and regulatory reports.
- Organize safety training, toolbox talks, emergency drills, and EHS awareness programs for employees and contractors.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
Requirements
- Educational Qualifications
- :
- Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following or related fields:
- Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, or Industrial)
- Occupational Health & Safety
- Chemistry
- Environmental Science
- Industrial Safety
- Professional Certifications:
- Required / Advantage:
- Membership of a recognized safety body (e.g., IOSH, ISPON) is an added advantage
- HSE Level 3 or equivalent certification
- NEBOSH IGC or NEBOSH General Certificate
- ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) Lead/Internal Auditor
- ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) Lead/Internal Auditor
Experience
& Skills:
Ability to conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments, and safety training.
Strong knowledge of workplace safety, environmental regulations, and GMP requirements.
2 – 5 years of EHS
in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
in homecare, personal care, chemical processing, or related manufacturing is preferred.
Good communication, training, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and EHS reporting tools.
Salary: N243,000 - N300,000 per month.
