Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for financial accounting and reporting, budgeting and forecasting, management accounting, cash flow management, payroll oversight, investment analysis, fundraising, audit, tax compliance, financial controls and risk management.
The Finance Manager will also consolidate and analyze the financial and operational performance of subsidiary businesses and provide Management with accurate financial insights to support strategic planning, investment decisions, profitability and sustainable business growth.
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Finance Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Finance function of an investment company and support the financial oversight of its subsidiary businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting, tax and statutory requirements.
- Manage the Company's cash flow and monitor liquidity requirements.
- Prepare and review profit and loss accounts, cash flow statements, variance analyses and financial commentaries.
- Maintain accurate, complete and reliable accounting records and financial systems.
- Identify, investigate and report accounting inconsistencies and financial control issues.
- Lead and supervise the Finance team and ensure effective delivery of the department's responsibilities.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, financial institutions and relevant regulatory authorities.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and implement agreed recommendations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Coordinate and guide the annual budgeting process across subsidiary businesses.
- Identify and explain material financial variances and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Prepare periodic budget-performance reports and analyze actual results against budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare comprehensive annual budgets and financial forecasts in line with the Company's strategic objectives.
- Review subsidiary budgets to ensure alignment with Group objectives and financial expectations.
- Consolidate approved budgets, forecasts and financial results across the Company and its subsidiaries.
- Develop periodic forecasts to support Management's business planning and decision-making.
- Management Accounting & Business Analysis:
- Conduct financial modelling and business-case analysis for existing and prospective investments.
- Analyze the financial performance of the Company and its subsidiaries using ratios, trends, KPIs and other analytical tools.
- Provide timely and accurate management reports to support executive decision-making.
- Conduct ad hoc financial and commercial analyses as required by Management.
- Assess the financial implications of key management and operational decisions and recommend improvements.
- Evaluate new projects and investment opportunities using financial metrics including NPV, future value, break-even analysis and payback period.
- Develop management and performance-analysis packs and present relevant commercial insights to Management.
- Investment & Fundraising:
- Develop well-informed investment recommendations based on appropriate financial and commercial analysis.
- Assess funding and investment requirements and recommend suitable strategies.
- Lead and support fundraising initiatives for the Company and its subsidiaries.
- Maintain effective relationships with banks, financial institutions, investors and other relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct financial research and analysis and prepare periodic investment reports.
- Support the management and monitoring of the Company's investment portfolio.
- Payroll Management:
- Establish appropriate payroll controls and validation procedures.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Ensure periodic reconciliation between payroll and Finance records.
- Provide oversight for the payroll function to ensure employees are paid accurately, completely and in accordance with approved Company policies.
- Risk Management, Controls & Compliance:
- Conduct financial and operational risk assessments for the Company and its subsidiaries.
- Develop and implement appropriate financial policies, procedures and internal controls to mitigate identified risks.
- Review audit findings and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial, statutory, tax and regulatory requirements.
- Provide necessary support to external auditors and tax consultants.
- Ensure accounting and financial records meet the requirements of auditors and relevant government/regulatory agencies.
- Leadership & People Development:
- Lead, manage, coach and motivate members of the Finance team.
- Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, personal development plans and relevant internal and external training.
- Identify competency and development needs within the Finance team.
- Establish clear responsibilities, performance expectations and accountability within the department.
- Key Stakeholder Relationships:
- Internal: Finance Team, MD/CEO, Management Team, and Finance Managers of subsidiary businesses.
- External: Banks and Financial Institutions, Auditors, Tax Consultants, Statutory/Regulatory Bodies, Contractors, Suppliers and other relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess:
Demonstrable experience in financial modelling, investment analysis and business performance evaluation.
A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline will be an advantage.
Must be a Chartered Accountant and member of ICAN.
Must have substantial professional experience working with one or more of the Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY or KPMG).
Minimum of 10 years' relevant professional experience.
Experience overseeing the finances of multiple subsidiaries or business units will be highly desirable.
Experience in investment management, fundraising or financial services will be an added advantage.
B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Economics or another relevant discipline.
Strong experience in financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audit, taxation, financial controls and risk management.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of financial controls, audit, taxation and regulatory compliance.
Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
Commercial and investment acumen.
Excellent leadership and people-management skills.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant accounting/ERP applications.

Advanced financial analysis and modelling skills.
Ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate actionable insights to senior management.
