Job Title: Frontend Developer

Location: Maryland / kosofe, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

The Frontend Developer will work closely with UI/UX Designers, Backend Developers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to translate business and design requirements into functional and high-performing digital products.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React.js, TypeScript, API integration, Git/GitHub, responsive design, and modern frontend development practices.

We are seeking a highly skilled, creative, and results-driven Frontend Developer to join our technology team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining responsive, secure, scalable, and user-friendly web applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Frontend Application Development:
• Develop clean, efficient, reusable, and well-documented code.
• Translate UI/UX designs, wireframes, and prototypes into functional interfaces.
• Build reusable, scalable, and maintainable UI components.
• Develop applications using React.js and TypeScript.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance responsive web applications using modern frontend technologies.
• Ensure applications are responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
• UI/UX Implementation:
• Collaborate with UI/UX Designers to implement designs accurately.
• Implement responsive and accessible interfaces.
• Identify usability issues and recommend improvements to enhance user experience.
• Ensure consistency in user interface, navigation, layouts, typography, and interactive elements.
• API & Backend Integration:
• Implement authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, loading states, and secure data presentation.
• Work closely with backend developers to ensure effective data exchange and system integration.
• Troubleshoot frontend and API-related issues.
• Integrate frontend applications with RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Performance & Application Optimization:
• Optimize applications for speed, scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and consistent application performance.
• Implement appropriate techniques such as code splitting, lazy loading, caching, and image optimization.
• Identify and resolve frontend performance bottlenecks.
• Testing & Quality Assurance:
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high coding standards.
• Where applicable, implement unit and integration testing using tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.
• Conduct frontend testing and debugging before deployment.
• Work with QA teams to ensure applications meet functional and technical requirements.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects and technical issues.
• Version Control & Development Practices:
• Participate in code reviews, pull requests, branching, and collaborative development processes.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives where applicable.
• Use Git, GitHub, GitLab, or equivalent version-control platforms for source-code management.
• Follow established software development standards, documentation requirements, and coding conventions.
• Maintenance & Continuous Improvement:
• Monitor applications and resolve bugs and technical issues.
• Maintain and improve existing frontend applications.
• Recommend improvements to existing systems, development processes, and user interfaces.
• Keep abreast of emerging frontend technologies, frameworks, security practices, and industry trends.
• Performance Indicators / KPIs
• Performance will be assessed based on:
• Contribution to continuous improvement of applications.
• Application performance and responsiveness.
• Number and resolution of defects/bugs.
• Compliance with coding and development standards.
• Timely delivery of assigned development tasks.
• Code review quality and collaboration.
• Successful integration with backend APIs.
• User experience and interface quality.
• Successful delivery of assigned projects and sprint objectives.
• Quality and maintainability of frontend code.
• Required Qualifications
• Good understanding of UI/UX principles.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• 7–20years of proven professional experience in Frontend Development, depending on level.
• Practical experience integrating REST APIs.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience working with modern frontend development tools and workflows.
• Demonstrable portfolio of websites, applications, or software projects is highly desirable.
• Bachelor's Degree/HND in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Good understanding of JSON, authentication, authorization, and frontend-backend communication.
• Strong proficiency in:
• HTML5
• TypeScript
• CSS3
• JavaScript (ES6+)
• Git/GitHub
• React.js
• Responsive Web Design
• Required / Preferred Certifications:
• Candidates should possess at least one relevant professional certification in Frontend/Web Development, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications may include:
• Note: Certification will be considered alongside practical technical competence, professional experience, coding ability, and portfolio evidence.
• Recognised React.js certification
• Recognised JavaScript certification
• Microsoft-related web development certification
• Recognised TypeScript/Web Development certification
• Meta Front-End Developer Professional Certificate
• freeCodeCamp Front End Development Libraries / related certifications
• Relevant certification from a recognised technology training institution or professional development platform.
• Desirable Technical Skills:
• Experience with any of the following will be an added advantage:
