The Head Accountant will lead the accounting function of the hospitality operation and will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, controls, revenue reconciliation, cash management and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate recording of revenue, expenses, assets and liabilities.
- Oversee daily accounting and financial operations.
- Prepare financial analysis and reports for management decision-making.
- Implement and maintain effective internal financial controls.
- Ensure timely statutory deductions, tax filings and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate inventory and stock-related financial controls with relevant departments.
- Review daily revenue reports and reconcile revenue from relevant operational outlets.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts.
- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and investigate significant variances.
- Monitor cash, bank and POS transactions and ensure timely reconciliations.
- Supervise and develop members of the Accounts team.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections.
- Oversee accounts payable, receivables and supplier reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities for cost control and improved financial efficiency.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
Requirements
- ICAN, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree/HND in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial responsibility.
- Previous accounting
Experience
within the hotel or hospitality industry is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of revenue reconciliation, cost control, budgeting and financial reporting.
Good understanding of Nigerian taxation and statutory reporting requirements.
Strong leadership and people-management skills.
High level of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail.
