Employment Type: Contract
Job Summary
The successful candidate will help ensure compliance with HSE policies, identify and report workplace hazards, conduct safety inspections, support employee safety training, and promote a strong safety culture across the organization.
Our client, a growing logistics and haulage company, is seeking a responsible, proactive, and safety-conscious HSE Assistant to support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental standards across its operations.
Key Responsibilties
Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Report unsafe acts, conditions, and hazards to the HSE Supervisor/Manager.
Monitor employees’ proper use of PPE and compliance with safety procedures.
Promote safety awareness among employees and drivers.
Support compliance with relevant HSE regulations and company standards.
Assist in implementing and monitoring HSE policies and procedures.
Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
Assist with risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
Conduct routine safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
Monitor workplace housekeeping and general safety conditions.
Support HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training.
Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and documentation.
Requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics/operational environment.
- Good observation, communication, and reporting skills.
- 1–2 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably in logistics, haulage, transportation, manufacturing, or a related environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is an added advantage.
- Minimum of OND / HND / B.Sc Degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Good knowledge of workplace safety practices, risk assessment, and incident reporting.
- Must be proactive, safety-conscious, disciplined, and willing to learn.
- Salary and Overtime
- N90,000 Monthly + Separate Overtime Payment
- Overtime work will attract additional payment separate from the monthly salary, in accordance with the company’s overtime policy.
