We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Employment Type: Full-Time

Role Summary

We are seeking a proactive and safety-conscious HSE Officer to support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

The successful candidate will monitor workplace safety, identify and control hazards, ensure compliance with applicable HSE requirements, and promote a strong safety culture across office, warehouse and operational activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with emergency drills and other safety exercises.
  • Conduct routine workplace, warehouse and operational HSE inspections.
  • Support HSE audits and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Support risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Permit-to-Work activities where applicable.
  • Support incident, accident and near-miss investigations and prepare reports.
  • Monitor emergency preparedness, fire safety and first-aid arrangements.
  • Promote continuous improvement in workplace health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Monitor environmental practices, including waste handling, chemical storage and spill prevention.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and HSE awareness sessions.
  • Implement and monitor the Company’s HSE policies, procedures and programs.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions arising from inspections and incidents.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, inspection reports, incident logs and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare periodic HSE reports and provide recommendations to management.
  • Liaise with supervisors and department heads to address unsafe conditions and behaviours.
  • Monitor compliance with PPE

  • Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 2–3 years of

Experience

in an HSE role, preferably within the oil & gas, industrial, manufacturing or related sector.

Strong communication, observation and problem-solving skills.

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and HSE reporting / documentation.

Relevant HSE certification(s) such as NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent will be an advantage.

Good knowledge of workplace safety practices, risk assessment and incident reporting.

Ability to work effectively across office, warehouse and operational environments.
