The College Librarian is responsible to the Provost for administration of the College Library and Co-ordination of library services in the teaching unit of the College and shall hold office for a single tenure of five (5) years with effect from the date of appointment and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must:
A good Bachelor's Degree and Master's in Library Science (MLS) from a recognized institution of higher learning with at least 15 years cognate experience and registration with Professional Library body or a PhD in Library and Information Science with at least 12 years cognate experience with evidence of registration with a professional Library body.
Proficiency in Information Communication Technology
Present evidence of sound human relations, professional competence, integrity, and efficient management of human and material resources.
Must be a Chief Librarian or Deputy College Librarian for a period that is not less than five (5) years in a College of Education system.
Must not be above the age of fifty-nine (59) years at the time of taking up the appointment.
Candidate must show evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journals equivalent to that of Chief Lecturer.
Terms of Appointment and Condition of Service
This appointment is for a single term of five (5) years in line with extant provisions.
The salary is consolidated and the appointee shall enjoy any other benefits attached to the position of Principal Officer of the College as approved by the Federal Government.
