We are seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Junior In-House Lawyer to serve as a Legal Officer. Functioning as an integral part of our operational engine, this role is designed for a qualified legal practitioner looking to build a strong in-house corporate career.

You will handle contract reviews, monitor regulatory compliance, safeguard company interests, serve as the daily legal touchpoint for key internal units (HR, Procurement, and Operations), and provide general administrative and miscellaneous operational support to ensure smooth business execution.

This role requires practical judgment, fast legal execution, precision in drafting, and high discretion when handling sensitive corporate information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Management & Drafting: Draft, review, and negotiate standard commercial agreements, vendor contracts etc.
  • Internal Business Advisory: Provide daily legal support to operational departments (HR, Sales, Operations) to identify and mitigate routine legal risks.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Filings: Monitor regulatory changes, track statutory deadlines, maintain corporate registers, and ensure strict compliance with local laws and statutory bodies.
  • Employment & Labor Compliance: Review employment terms, advise on statutory labor standards under Nigerian Labor Law, and support the legal aspects of workplace dispute resolution and compliance.
  • Document Control & Administrative Support: Organize legal files, track contract renewal cycles, perform legal research, and prepare practical legal memos for management.
  • Dispute & External Counsel Support: Assist in gathering evidence, compiling documentation for active legal matters, and liaising with external solicitors when needed.
  • Miscellaneous & Executive Operational Support: Perform administrative duties, facilitate corporate correspondence, coordinate logistics for executive assignments, and execute ad-hoc operational tasks as directed by management.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: LL.B and B.L. (Must be called to the Nigerian Bar).
  • Academic Record: Minimum of Second Class Upper (2:1) at both University and Law School.
  • Experience: 1 (One) year Post-NYSC experience in active legal practice, corporate solicitor practice, or an in-house legal role.
  • Legal Skills: Sound understanding of Nigerian Commercial Law, Corporate Practice, and Labor Law, with strong drafting and analytical skills.
  • Operational Fit: Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage competing deadlines, adapt to general administrative tasks, and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Tech Proficiency: Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital document/contract tracking tools.
  • Preferred Attributes:
  • Active membership in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
  • Meticulous attention to detail in legal drafting, statutory interpretation, and administrative coordination.
