Job Title: Mathematics Teacher
Location: Aba, Abia
Employment Type: Full-time
Reporting Line: The successful candidate will report to the Head of Department / Vice Principal / Principal, depending on the school's organizational structure.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, responsible, and passionate Secondary School Teacher who is committed to academic excellence, student development, discipline, and Christian values.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons, supporting students' academic and personal development, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and contributing to the overall growth and vision of the Academy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the School Management.
- Encourage students to develop good character, leadership skills, responsibility, confidence, and respect for others.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, assessments, and student performance.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, school administrators, and support staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, training programmes, workshops, school events, and extracurricular activities.
- Ensure compliance with the school's policies, procedures, safeguarding standards, and code of conduct.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum and academic standards.
- Teach assigned subjects effectively and ensure students understand the learning objectives.
- Communicate professionally with parents/guardians regarding students' academic performance and behaviour.
- Integrate Christian values and principles into teaching and student interactions where appropriate.
- Prepare lesson notes, schemes of work, assignments, tests, examinations, and other instructional materials.
- Identify students who require additional academic support and work with them to improve their performance.
- Supervise students during assigned duties, activities, examinations, assemblies, and school programmes.
- Assess students' academic progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain classroom discipline and promote a respectful, safe, and productive learning environment.
- Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement of teaching methods.
Requirements
- Education:
- Possession of TRCN registration/licence or eligibility for registration is an advantage.
- A NCE may be considered for appropriate teaching positions, particularly at the Junior Secondary level.
- Additional professional teaching qualifications or certifications will be an advantage.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (B.Ed., B.Sc., B.A., B.Tech., or equivalent) in the relevant subject or related field.
Experience
Experience preparing students for WAEC, NECO, BECE, or other recognized examinations is an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively.
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds is an advantage.
Experience teaching the Nigerian secondary school curriculum is an advantage.
Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a reputable school is preferred.
