Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our operations in Elele, Rivers State.
We are particularly interested in candidates with 3+ years of relevant experience in soybean/vegetable oil manufacturing plants, with practical knowledge of oil processing, preparation/extraction, and refining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of mechanical systems and equipment across the oil manufacturing process, including:
- Ensuring proper lubrication, inspection, servicing, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
- Supporting maintenance activities within the oil preparation/processing and refining sections.
- Working closely with Production, Electrical, and other technical teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Supporting the mechanical operations of processing equipment, pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors, boilers, heat exchangers, valves, pipelines, and related plant equipment.
- Carrying out preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance of plant machinery and mechanical systems.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records, equipment history, and spare-parts requirements.
- Ensuring all mechanical maintenance activities comply with company safety and operational standards.
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and plant productivity.
- Carrying out equipment installation, alignment, commissioning, dismantling, and repairs where required.
- Maintaining and servicing equipment used in soybean oil processing, preparation/extraction, and refining.
- Monitoring equipment performance and identifying potential mechanical failures before they affect production.
- Performing other mechanical engineering duties necessary for the effective operation of the oil manufacturing plant.
- Troubleshooting mechanical faults and ensuring timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
Requirements
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Candidates who can independently handle the mechanical maintenance requirements of an oil processing and refining plant will be highly considered.
Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
Hands-on experience with mechanical equipment used in oil manufacturing and refining plants.
B.Sc./B.Eng./HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
Practical experience in soybean/vegetable oil manufacturing is highly preferred.
Good knowledge of industrial safety and maintenance procedures.
Strong understanding of oil processing/preparatory and refining stages.
Ability to work effectively with production and technical teams.
Strong troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and mechanical repair skills.
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant professional experience in a manufacturing, agro-processing, edible-oil, or similar industrial environment.
What We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate should have practical exposure to soybean/vegetable oil production, processing, and refining equipment and be capable of diagnosing mechanical problems, carrying out repairs, supervising maintenance activities, and keeping plant equipment running efficiently.
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer, not just someone with a general engineering background.
Salary: N220,000 - N250,000 monthly, depending on experience and technical competence.
