Job Summary
The successful candidate will supervise drilling operators, coordinate daily activities, monitor equipment and work practices, and promote a safe and efficient mining environment.
We are seeking an experienced Mining Safety Manager / Driller Operators Team Lead to oversee drilling operations while ensuring strict compliance with mining safety standards and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and report safety hazards, equipment faults, incidents, and unsafe work practices.
- Ensure drilling operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and according to operational requirements.
- Coordinate with mining engineers, supervisors, and other departments.
- Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Monitor drilling activities, productivity, and work quality.
- Ensure proper pre-operation checks and basic maintenance of drilling equipment.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the mining site.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of driller operators.
- Implement corrective and preventive safety measures.
- Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox meetings.
- Maintain accurate drilling, safety, and operational records.
- Ensure all drilling personnel comply with safety procedures and properly use PPE.
- Train, guide, and supervise drilling operators and other site personnel.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in mining, drilling, or heavy industrial operations.
Ability to work effectively in a mining-site environment.
Good knowledge of mining safety procedures, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Degree, HND, OND, or relevant technical qualification in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
Previous team-lead or supervisory experience is required.
Proven experience operating or supervising drilling equipment.
Relevant HSE/safety certification will be an advantage.
Strong knowledge of drilling equipment and site operations.
Salary: N400,000 / month.
