Health Invest Africa (HIA) is a leading healthcare solutions provider, managing three health-focused verticals: OncoClinics, Rencare, and The Dr. Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Hospital (POCCH).

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Patient Navigator

Location: Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina

Employment Type: Full-time

Background

Health Invest Africa is looking for a compassionate, organised Patient Navigator to walk alongside patients at the Cancer Centre in Katsina -from screening and diagnosis through treatment, post-treatment care and support services.

You'll be the friendly, knowledgeable guide patients and families turn to. Working closely with oncologists and the wider clinical team within the hospital, you'll support smooth service delivery, coordinate follow-up, help people understand what to expect, remove barriers that keep them from care, and make sure no one slips through the cracks -with a particular focus on patients referred for radiotherapy.

What you'll do

Document and report: record patient interactions, keep the patient database accurate, and submit weekly reports on navigation activities and follow-up outcomes.

Remove barriers: identify what's stopping patients from getting care and connect them to resources, including financial or transport assistance. Refer patients to psychological, palliative and other support services, and provide education within the scope of the role.

Support radiotherapy patients: help patients referred for radiotherapy understand the process, keep to their scheduled sessions, and stay connected to the clinical team from referral to completion of treatment.

Follow up: check daily with the clinical team for missed appointments and contact those patients -adult and paediatric -including those lost to follow-up. Support adherence to treatment plans and report findings to the Oncologist.

Guide and coordinate care: welcome new patients on their first clinic visits and guide them through the Cancer Centre, laboratory, wards and other departments. Explain how the multidisciplinary team works and what patients and caregivers can expect at appointments.

What you'll bring

Above all, you put patients first and bring patience and compassion to people going through complex treatment.

Clear, empathetic communication with patients, families and clinicians

Experience in patient care coordination or navigation (oncology experience is an advantage)

Excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail

Knowledge of healthcare systems and patient care processes

Strong problem-solving skills and a drive to advocate for patients

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field

Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
