Job Summary
We are expanding, and we're looking for exceptional, passionate, and creative Phonics & Early literacy Teachers to help pupils build strong foundational reading, writing and speaking skills to join our School team in Aba, Abia State.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with class teachers to ensure literacy skills are reinforced across the curriculum.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver structured phonics lessons (e.g., Jolly Phonics, Letterland, or other approved programmes) to teach letter sounds, blending, segmenting, and decoding.
- Assess pupils’ reading and writing progress regularly, providing targeted interventions where needed.
- Use interactive, multi-sensory teaching methods to make learning engaging and inclusive.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development activities.
- Participate in literacy events, reading clubs, and professional development programmes.
- Develop and adapt teaching resources to suit different learning styles and abilities.
- Integrate phonics into broader literacy lessons covering vocabulary, comprehension, creative writing, and oral communication.
- Plan and deliver engaging, phonics lessons alongside broader literacy instruction, ensuring pupils develop confidence, fluency, and a lifelong love for reading.
- Develop effective lesson plans using differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain a stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity and participation.
- Uphold and promote the school’s values, discipline policies, and safeguarding standards.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians on pupils’ progress and home support strategies.
