Job Title: Piping Designer – Junior / Intermediate / Senior
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Contract
Job Purpose
To prepare, develop and update piping design drawings and documentation for oil and gas, industrial and engineering projects in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Check piping dimensions, routing, elevations, clearances and accessibility.
- Prepare and update piping arrangements, equipment layouts and piping details.
- Support preparation of material take-offs and piping-related schedules where required.
- Coordinate piping design activities with process, mechanical, structural, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
- Develop piping drawings from engineering design information, P&IDs, specifications and project requirements.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable project specifications, codes and standards.
- Extract and interpret information from P&IDs, plot plans, equipment drawings and 3D models.
- Incorporate engineering comments and update drawings accordingly.
- Prepare and modify piping layout drawings, piping plans and isometrics.
- Maintain proper revision control of drawings and design documents.
- Participate in site surveys and field verification where required.
- Develop piping isometric drawings and related design deliverables.
- Typical Requirements
- Junior
- Basic knowledge of piping design and engineering drawings.
- Ability to read P&IDs and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or relevant CAD software.
- OND/HND/B.Sc./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or related discipline
- Candidates must have at least 7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Any candidates who apply without this experience will have their CVs rejected immediately.
- Intermediate:
- Relevant engineering/design qualification.
- Practical experience in piping design for oil & gas, industrial or construction projects.
- Proficiency in relevant CAD/3D design software.
- Good knowledge of piping layouts, isometrics and engineering drawings.
- Senior:
- Strong experience in piping design on oil & gas/industrial projects.
- Ability to independently develop and review piping design deliverables.
- Strong knowledge of applicable piping codes, standards and client specifications.
- Experience coordinating piping design with other engineering disciplines.
- Preferred Software:
- AutoCAD
- MicroStation
- AVEVA E3D/PDMS
- AutoCAD Plant 3D
- Other relevant piping design software
- SmartPlant 3D
