Location: Kano
General objective
The role supports stable extrusion operations by conducting inspections, sampling, process checks, analytical measurements, hygiene verification, documentation, and timely reporting of deviations for corrective action.
The Quality Controller is responsible for verifying that incoming raw and packaging materials, in-process products, and finished goods comply with defined quality, food safety, HO&S, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities

- Quality Control Management:
- Monitor temperature, pressure, and humidity in all process areas and warehouses.
- Perform regular sampling on the product in process and finished products.
- Conduct control at reception for the incoming materials (raw & packaging materials)
- Ensure proper cleaning, handling, and storage of materials and finished products.
- Prepare samples for analysis according to established sampling plan
- Conduct inline inspections and quality checks for in-process products during extrusion operations.
- Control and validate the raw materials pre-treatment process according to established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure staff hygiene during operations complies with Good Hygiene Practices (GHP).
- Ensure Good Housekeeping (GHK) across all operational areas
- On-line analysis:
- Identify equipment malfunctions and report them for corrective action.
- In-process and finished product density analysis
- In-process and finished product particle size analysis
- Analyze measurement data, verify that test results meet required specifications, and ensure appropriate corrections and corrective actions are implemented when deviations occur.
- In-process and finished product moisture analysis
- Cooperate with production teams to improve the process quality and productivity
- In-process water and steam analysis
- Perform routine calibration, verification, and basic maintenance on measurement devices
- Perform process analytical measurement:
- Food Safety Management System:
- Support internal and external audits, inspections, and certifications.
- Monitoring CCPs, OPRPs and quality parameters during production.
- Record, analyse, and report quality inspection results and nonconformities.
- Conduct waste ratio evaluation and segregation according to standard operation procedures (SOPs)
- Perform sensory evaluation of the product in process and finished products
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of quality records.
- Initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for quality deviations.
- Verify cleanliness, hygiene practices, and sanitation programs within the production area.
- Cooperate with production teams to improve product quality and reduce waste.
- Participate in food safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct cleaning validation of production equipment and ensure implementation of 5S at workstations.

Education
degree – HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
Work
Experience
– Minimum of 3 years of
in food manufacturing or extruded pet food production. Good understanding of food safety and quality management systems.
