Key Responsibilities
- Cost Planning & BOQ Preparation:
- Prepare cost estimates at concept, schematic, design development, and construction documentation stages.
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for:
- Maintenance projects
- Remodelling projects
- New construction projects o Interior fit-out projects
- Renovation works
- Programme of Works:
- Prepare detailed Programmes of Work for all projects.
- Project Cost Control & Valuation:
- Measure completed works and certify project progress
- Carry out weekly valuation of all ongoing projects.
- Procurement & Commercial Management:
- Prepare tender documents and procurement schedules.
- Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Contract Administration:
- Prepare and review subcontract agreements.
- Payment Verification & Financial Control:
- Verify work completed before recommending payments.
- Review all payment requests submitted by:
- Site Supervisors
- Engineers
- Vendors
- Site Builders
- Subcontractors
- Project Managers
- Suppliers
- Artisans
- Supplier & Resource Development:
- Identify and prequalify new:
- Specialist subcontractors
- Material suppliers
- Equipment vendors
- Skilled artisans
- Construction product manufacturers
- Client & Commercial Engagement:
- Participate in project valuation meetings with clients and consultants.
- Prepare interim valuations and final accounts
- Cost Optimisation & Value Engineering:
- Identify opportunities to reduce construction costs without compromising quality.
Qualifications
- Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (Graduate or Corporate Member).
- Proven
Experience
handling residential, commercial, institutional, and interior fit-out projects.
managing multiple projects concurrently.
Registration with the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria is an added advantage.
B.Sc. or HND in Quantity Surveying.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant post-graduate experience, comprising:
At least 2 years in a construction or design-build firm, with hands-on
in project valuations, cost control, procurement, subcontractor management, and commercial administration.
At least 2 years in a Quantity Surveying consultancy firm, with
in cost planning, BOQ preparation, tender documentation, and contract administration.
Software Proficiency:
The successful candidate should be proficient in:
AutoCAD (drawing interpretation)
Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
Microsoft Project
Microsoft Word
CostX, Cubit, or similar quantity surveying software (preferred)
Bluebeam Revu or equivalent PDF measurement software (advantage).
