The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Civil Engineers, Architects, Contractors, Consultants, Procurement, Finance and site teams to ensure that project costs are properly estimated, monitored, documented and controlled.
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost estimation, quantity take-offs, budgeting, tender documentation, valuation, cost control, contract administration and commercial monitoringacross projects.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join its Projects & Engineering team and support the commercial and cost management of construction, agricultural infrastructure and engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review contractors' claims and supporting documentation.
- Work with Procurement and Finance to ensure commercial documentation supports payment processing.
- Prepare final accounts and project close-out documentation.
- Prepare project cost estimates, budgets and cost plans.
- Maintain project cost reports and commercial records.
- Identify cost variations, potential overruns and commercial risks.
- Review contractors' quotations, tenders and commercial submissions.
- Support contract administration and commercial negotiations.
- Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications and site measurements.
- Measure completed works and verify quantities executed on site.
- Provide cost and commercial reports to Project Management and Management.
- Maintain proper records of project costs, variations, claims and payments.
- Prepare interim valuations, payment certificates and variation assessments.
- Assist with tender preparation, evaluation and commercial comparisons.
- Conduct site inspections and measurement exercises.
- Verify materials, labour and work quantities where required.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Ensure compliance with approved project budgets, contracts and internal controls.
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and schedules of works.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of construction measurement and cost estimation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant Quantity Surveying/estimating software.
- Strong analytical, numerical and reporting skills.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil and engineering drawings.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Experience preparing and reviewing BOQs.
- 3–5 years' relevant experience, preferably in construction, infrastructure, agricultural projects or engineering projects.
- Ability to work effectively with site teams, contractors and consultants.
- Experience with contractor valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Good knowledge of contract administration and project cost control.
- Bachelor's Degree / HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Willingness to travel to project and farm sites when required.
- Professional certification/membership of a recognised Quantity Surveying professional body is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods and pricing.
