Role Summary
The Risk Manager will implement rigorous risk assessment procedures, safeguard client assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold our commitment to accuracy and transparency.
We are seeking an analytical, detail-oriented, and high-integrity Risk Manager to lead and strengthen our enterprise risk management framework who will focus on collateral warehousing control, petroleum product inventory monitoring, and transactional risk mitigation for financing partner banks.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate routine physical stock audits, sampling, and analytical reporting for financing partner banks to ensure real-time asset visibility.
- Conduct risk audits, vessel/terminal inspections, and health, safety, and environment (HSE) evaluations.
- Prepare and present high-level risk exposure reports to board-level executives and bank risk committees.
- Establish comprehensive risk registers, mitigation strategies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with ISO standards and industry best practices.
- Provide risk advice to executive management regarding market volatility, counterparty exposure, and regulatory developments.
- Oversee collateral warehousing control services, ensuring physical stock accuracy, quality and quantity (Q&Q) verification, and safe custody of client commodities (primarily petroleum products).
- Identify, assess, and evaluate operational, financial, and credit risks associated with financed petroleum shipments and ship-to-ship (STS) transfers.
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian maritime, oil and gas, environmental, and financial sector regulatory standards, alongside client-bank covenants.
- Design and execute internal control protocols to prevent inventory loss, stock discrepancies, fuel contamination, or fraudulent activities across all storage depots and discharge facilities.
- Investigate operational incidents, cargo variances, or procedural breaches, providing root-cause analyses and corrective action plans.
- Serve as the principal risk liaison for client banks, trade finance partners, and collateral control clients.
- Qualifications & Requirements
- In-depth understanding of petroleum product quality/quantity (Q&Q) inspection, ship-to-ship (STS) operations, terminal discharge, and bank-financed commodity transactions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline. Professional certifications (IRM, PRM, FRM, PECB ISO 31000) are highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated commitment to honesty, accuracy, precision, and ethical execution.
- 5–8+ years of progressive risk management experience, specifically with collateral management services, oil & gas cargo inspection, or trade finance risk control within West Africa.
- Proficiency in risk modeling, data analysis, inventory auditing, and executive report writing.
