Role Summary

The Sales & Marketing Officer will be responsible for driving sales growth, expanding the customer base, generating new business opportunities, and strengthening customer and distributor relationships in Abuja.

The successful candidate will play a hands-on role in achieving sales targets, identifying new market opportunities, developing sales strategies, and supporting brand visibility. The role requires a proactive and results-driven individual who can independently manage sales activities, build strong customer relationships, and contribute to the company's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Growth:
  • Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Generate new leads and convert prospects into customers and distributors.
  • Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to increase product sales and market penetration in Abuja.
  • Support initiatives aimed at increasing the company's market share and revenue.
  • Work towards achieving and exceeding monthly sales targets.
  • Identify new customer segments, sales channels, and business opportunities.
  • Customer & Distributor Relationship Management:
  • Maintain regular communication with existing customers to encourage repeat purchases and strengthen retention.
  • Understand customer needs and provide appropriate product information and solutions.
  • Address customer concerns and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Follow up on leads, enquiries, orders, and prospective customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, retailers, and other business partners.
  • Market Development & Research:
  • Monitor competitor activities, pricing, promotions, and market positioning.
  • Identify potential distribution points, retail outlets, corporate clients, and other sales opportunities.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities, customer preferences, and market trends.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support business and sales decisions.
  • Negotiation & Business Development:
  • Negotiate with prospective customers, distributors, and business partners within approved company guidelines.
  • Support the development and maintenance of commercial relationships and partnerships.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for strategic partnerships and market expansion.
  • Support the preparation and execution of business proposals and commercial agreements.
  • Brand Management & Visibility:
  • Support initiatives to increase product awareness and brand visibility within the Abuja market.
  • Gather customer feedback and market insights to inform brand and product development initiatives.
  • Represent the brand professionally when engaging with customers, distributors, and business partners.
  • Implement sales and promotional activities in line with the company's brand and business objectives.
  • Reporting & Performance Management:
  • Prepare regular sales and market performance reports.
  • Use sales data and market feedback to recommend improvements to sales strategies.
  • Track progress against sales targets and provide updates to the Business & Operations Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, leads, customer interactions, and business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills.
  • Ability to conduct market research and translate market insights into actionable opportunities.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver results.
  • Minimum of 3 years'

Experience

in sales, business development, marketing, customer relationship management, or a related role.

Proven ability to generate leads, acquire customers, and achieve sales targets.

Proficiency in using basic digital tools for sales tracking, reporting, and communication.

Good understanding of sales processes and business development.

Must be resident in Abuja, preferably within or around Kubwa.

HND or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Food Technology, or a related field.

Strong customer relationship management skills.

in FMCG, food processing, consumer goods, retail, or a related industry is an advantage.
