The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing the company’s financial health by ensuring sound accounting practices, accurate reporting, and compliance with statutory regulations.
The ideal candidate will oversee all accounting operations, from financial analysis and reporting to budgeting,inventory control, and tax management.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial statements and records.
- Conduct regular reconciliation of bank accounts, vendor accounts, and inventory balances.
- Ensure compliance with FIRS & LIRS and other relevant accounting standards.
- Manage fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Budgeting & Financial Planning:
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Analyze actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommendingcorrective actions.
- Develop financial models and projections to support strategic business planning.
- Taxation & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of all statutory obligations including VAT, PAYE, WHT, Pension, and Company Income Tax in compliance with FIRS and LIRS regulations.

- Inventory, Cost & Sales Accounting:
- Accounting& Auditing:
- Monitor product margins and profitability, advising management on pricing or cost-saving opportunities.
- Track cost of goods sold (COGS) and ensure correct cost allocation to product categories.
- Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to ensure accuracy of stock and sales data.
- Oversee accurate valuation of inventory.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable Management:
- Manage cash advances, staff reimbursements, and expense reporting.
- Supervise the processing of vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of customer and supplier accounts.
- Maintain effective credit control systems to minimize bad debts
- Monitor customer accounts, ensuring prompt invoicing and collection of receivables.
- Internal Control & Team Management:
- Train and mentor accounting team members, ensuring adherence to company policies and standards.
- Implement and maintain sound internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
- Review and approve financial transactions posted by junior accounting staff.
- Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
- Manage relationships with financial institutions and recommend investment or financing optionswhen necessary.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and advise management on liquidity positions.
- Monitor daily cash flow to ensure availability of funds for operations.
Requirements
- or Qualifications
- Candidates should possess a minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- 4 - 5 years relevant accounting experience, preferably in a structured organization.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar).
- The ideal candidate should reside in Ikeja or its environs for ease of commute and prompt availability.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS, GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Professional certification, such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent, is required.
- N400,000 - N500,000 per month.
