Purpose of the Position
Our diverse team—software developers, QA, UI/UX, DevOps, and AI engineers—builds secure, scalable systems tailored to public health needs.
S/he will also provide leadership in applying current design paradigms, accessibility standards, and brand consistency throughout all digital assets.
We prioritize real-world impact, user-centric design, and integration with health programs.
The Senior Coordinator, UI/UX Design leads the end-to-end design and development of user experiences and interfaces across eHealth Africa’s digital products.
We develop innovative platforms such as eHA Care, LoMIS, and PlanField and collaborate with partners to optimize tools like EMID and VaxTrac.
The Software Engineering Department at eHealth Africa designs and maintains digital health solutions that strengthen healthcare systems across Africa.
This role is accountable for creating seamless, accessible, and compelling interactions across platforms—ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the needs of a diverse user base.
The department also contributes to local tech talent development through the eHA Academy and provides career growth opportunities within a supportive, innovative environment.
What you’ll do
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:
Integrate usability and accessibility principles into each stage of the product lifecycle, from concept through deployment.
Deliver responsive, high-fidelity mockups, design assets, and implementation-ready specifications using tools like Figma.
Maintain and evolve a scalable design system aligned with brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and cross-platform consistency.
Provide UX leadership in sprint planning, design reviews, and stakeholder discussions to ensure alignment and feasibility.
Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to shape user journeys and define product touchpoints.
Coordinate with front-end developers and quality assurance teams to implement, test, and validate UI/UX elements throughout development cycles.
Create and maintain documentation, including style guides, design flows, and usability insights to support team continuity.
Monitor product performance post-launch and continuously iterate on design based on user feedback, behavioral data, and evolving trends.
Translate user needs and product objectives into wireframes, prototypes, and detailed design specifications.
Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of user experience and interface design across web and mobile platforms.

Qualifications and Experience
Strong portfolio demonstrating end to end product design, including user research, user flows, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, usability testing and shipped product outcomes.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS and an understanding of frontend development constraints.
5-6 years of professional UI/UX or Product Design experience, with demonstrated experience designing and delivering complex digital products across web and mobile platforms.
Experience designing healthcare, digital health, public sector or other complex enterprise products.
Experience using AI assisted design and research tools to support activities such as ideation, research synthesis, content exploration and rapid prototyping.

Proven experience in creating interactive designs and conducting usability testing.
Demonstrated experience conducting user research and usability testing, synthesising findings and translating insights into actionable product improvements.

Strong experience creating, maintaining and contributing to scalable design systems, reusable components and consistent product experiences.
Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Deep understanding of interaction design, visual hierarchy, design systems, and usability testing.
Certifications and Licenses:
CPACC, IAAP, UX Design Certification or its equivalent.
