The Software Engineering Department at eHealth Africa designs and maintains digital health solutions that strengthen healthcare systems across Africa.

The Senior Coordinator, UI/UX Design leads the end-to-end design and development of user experiences and interfaces across eHealth Africa’s digital products.
This role is accountable for creating seamless, accessible, and compelling interactions across platforms—ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the needs of a diverse user base.
S/he will also provide leadership in applying current design paradigms, accessibility standards, and brand consistency throughout all digital assets.
What you’ll do
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:
Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of user experience and interface design across web and mobile platforms.
Translate user needs and product objectives into wireframes, prototypes, and detailed design specifications.
Maintain and evolve a scalable design system aligned with brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and cross-platform consistency.
Integrate usability and accessibility principles into each stage of the product lifecycle, from concept through deployment.
Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to shape user journeys and define product touchpoints.
Provide UX leadership in sprint planning, design reviews, and stakeholder discussions to ensure alignment and feasibility.
Coordinate with front-end developers and quality assurance teams to implement, test, and validate UI/UX elements throughout development cycles.
Deliver responsive, high-fidelity mockups, design assets, and implementation-ready specifications using tools like Figma.
Create and maintain documentation, including style guides, design flows, and usability insights to support team continuity.
Monitor product performance post-launch and continuously iterate on design based on user feedback, behavioral data, and evolving trends.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
5-6 years of professional UI/UX or Product Design experience, with demonstrated experience designing and delivering complex digital products across web and mobile platforms.
Strong portfolio demonstrating end to end product design, including user research, user flows, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, usability testing and shipped product outcomes.
Advanced proficiency in Figma or equivalent design tools, including components, Auto Layout, variables, prototyping, design libraries and developer handoff.
Strong experience creating, maintaining and contributing to scalable design systems, reusable components and consistent product experiences.
Demonstrated experience conducting user research and usability testing, synthesising findings and translating insights into actionable product improvements.
Experience using AI assisted design and research tools to support activities such as ideation, research synthesis, content exploration and rapid prototyping.
Proven experience in creating interactive designs and conducting usability testing.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS and an understanding of frontend development constraints.
