We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Summary
You will assess borrower creditworthiness, analyze risk factors, ensure compliance with lending policies, and help optimize default management frameworks.
The Senior Credit Analyst will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting consumer credit applications, with a strong emphasis on payroll/salary-backed loans.
Key Responsibilities
- Credit Assessment & Underwriting:
- Evaluate and process complex payroll loan applications in accordance with internal credit policies and regulatory standards.
- Analyze financial information, bank statements, employment verification, pay stubs, and credit bureau reports (e.g., CRC, FirstCentral) to evaluate creditworthiness.
- Risk Analysis & Management:
- Identify potential risk drivers in payroll lending portfolios (e.g., job instability, employer default/delay in remittance, high debt-service ratios).
- Assist in early-stage delinquency detection and work closely with the Collections & Recovery team to minimize non-performing loans (NPLs).
- Monitor portfolio performance, perform variance analysis, and recommend adjustments to credit limits and underwriting criteria.
- Policy & Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with Sales, and Operations teams to design competitive payroll lending products and seamless customer journeys.
- Review, update, and refine credit scoring models and loan approval workflows to improve turn-around time (TAT) without compromising risk standards.
- Reporting & Team Leadership:
- Prepare detailed credit evaluation reports and present loan recommendations to the Credit Committee.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior credit analysts and underwriting officers.

Experience
Minimum of 3–5 years of
in credit analysis and underwriting within a microfinance bank, fintech or finance company.
Payroll Lending Expertise: Proven track record in underwriting payroll-backed / salary loans (e.g., Remita, IPPIS, direct debit mandates, automated payroll deduction platforms)
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Banking & Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, or a related field. Professional certifications are an added advantage.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in credit scoring tools, credit bureau portals, and loan management systems (LMS).
Analytical Mindset: Excellent quantitative skills with sharp attention to detail and risk identification.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, financial modeling, and portfolio reporting.
