Job Title: Senior Driver
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
The Senior Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of company staff, materials, and equipment.
The role requires strict adherence to traffic regulations, company policies, and safety procedures, as well as proper handling, loading, and offloading of items to prevent damage.
The driver is expected to maintain assigned vehicles in good condition, report faults promptly, and support daily operational activities, particularly in construction and field environments.
Key responsibilities
- Comply with driver’s code of conduct
- Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, including trip details, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Keep records of all vehicle repairs, inspections, and service dates.
- Complete and submit incident and accident reports as required.
- You may be required to undertake other duties as DA may reasonably require.
- Ensure that passengers and goods are transported safely, without risk to their security or wellbeing.
- Communicate in a professional and courteous manner with colleagues.
- Washing assigned DA vehicles.
- Adhere to assigned routes and schedules to optimize efficiency and ensure timely deliveries.
- Ensure vehicle documents (insurance, registration) are valid and renewed as required.
- Safely transport management, office staff, and other personnel to assigned destinations.
- Conduct long-distance trips as well as regular daily drives.
- Exhibit a professional demeanour, punctuality, and courteous communication with staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle, both interior and exterior.
- Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the logistics team promptly.
- Act with discretion and always maintain confidentiality.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating company vehicles.
- Implement company safety policies, including use of seat belts and prohibition of mobile phone usage while driving.
- Provide timely updates to the logistics team regarding route status or delays.
- Perform daily inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in proper working condition.
- Qualifications and Knowledge
- Proven ability to safely load, secure, and offload materials and equipment
- Minimum of SSCE or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ proven driving experience in a professional or corporate settings
- Ability to follow company policies, instructions, and schedules with minimal supervision
- Good knowledge of local and inter-state routes, including alternative routes when required
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance basics and ability to identify and report mechanical faults promptly
- Strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and professionalism
- Basic understanding of logbooks, fuel records, and trip documentation
- Good knowledge of road safety regulations, traffic laws, and defensive driving practices
- Valid and appropriate driver’s license (relevant category) with a clean driving record
- Tools & Technology Requirements:
- Ability to use basic mobile applications (calls, messaging, GPS/navigation, WhatsApp, etc.) for work communication and coordination
- Must own and be able to use a functional smartphone with internet access
