This role requires a highly organised, people-oriented and commercially aware HR professional who can balance employee advocacy with organisational requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving key HR operations across the employee lifecycle, providing HR advisory support to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and applicable employment regulations, and using HR data to support informed management decisions.

The Senior Human Resources Officer will support the Chief Human Resources Officer in the effective management and continuous improvement of the organisation’s people, policies, systems and employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle:
  • Identify gaps in HR processes and recommend practical improvements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of employee documentation, onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions, changes in employment status and exits.
  • Support the effective use and administration of the organisation’s HRIS.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases.
  • Monitor adherence to HR policies, procedures and established service standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day HR operations across the employee lifecycle.
  • Recruitment & Workforce Planning:
  • Maintain recruitment trackers and provide regular recruitment reports.
  • Support end-to-end recruitment activities, including job profiling, sourcing, screening, interviews, selection and onboarding.
  • Monitor recruitment metrics including time-to-hire, recruitment pipeline and offer acceptance rates.
  • Work with hiring managers to understand workforce requirements and ensure timely recruitment.
  • Support workforce planning and headcount analysis.
  • Employee Relations:
  • Escalate complex or sensitive matters appropriately to the CHRO.
  • Support investigations into employee complaints, grievances, misconduct and workplace incidents.
  • Prepare HR correspondence, disciplinary documentation and investigation reports as required.
  • Handle employee relations matters fairly, consistently and confidentially.
  • Provide professional HR advisory support to employees and line managers.
  • Promote positive employee relations and a healthy workplace culture.
  • Performance Management:
  • Provide HR insights on performance trends and workforce issues.
  • Support performance improvement processes where required.
  • Coordinate the organisation’s performance management processes.
  • Monitor completion of performance management activities and identify areas requiring intervention.
  • Support managers in setting meaningful performance objectives and conducting performance reviews.
  • HR Policies, Compliance & Governance:
  • Support the development, review and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support HR audits and regulatory or internal compliance reviews.
  • Monitor compliance with HR policies across departments.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with applicable Nigerian employment legislation and organisational requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate HR documentation and audit trails.
  • Learning & Development:
  • Coordinate training programmes, attendance and evaluation.
  • Support the identification of employee training and development needs.
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of training interventions.
  • Maintain accurate training records.
  • Support leadership and employee development initiatives.
  • HR Analytics & Reporting:
  • Prepare regular HR reports and dashboards for management.
  • Maintain accurate HR statistics and ensure data integrity across HR systems.
  • Provide insights that support management decision-making.
  • Analyse workforce data including headcount, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment, employee movements and other key HR metrics.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture:
  • Identify emerging employee concerns and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Support the implementation of RHV’s values and expected standards of behaviour.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement, wellbeing and organisational culture.
  • Coordinate employee engagement activities and feedback mechanisms.
  • Payroll & Benefits Support:
  • Maintain accurate records relating to salary changes, allowances, deductions and employee benefits.
  • Support payroll reconciliation and verification of employee information.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Support administration of employee benefits and HMO-related processes.
  • Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience in a healthcare environment will be an advantage.
  • Experience using HRIS and HR data/reporting tools.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data-analysis skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Management, Psychology or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience across HR operations, employee relations, recruitment and performance management.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive HR experience, preferably within a structured healthcare organisation.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian employment practices and HR compliance requirements.
  • Professional certification from CIPM, SHRM, HRCI or another recognised HR professional body is an advantage.
