We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Location: Abuja
Job Purpose
The Senior Manager, Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy will support the develoopment and implementation of CIoD Nigeria’s stakeholder engagement and advocacy strategies in furtherance of the Institute’s mandate and strategic priorities.
The role will build and manage strategic relationships with government institutions and officials, regulators, policymakers, industry leaders, professional bodies, subject matter experts, business membership organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
The incumbent will coordinate engagement and advocacy initiatives, support policy development and contribute to programmes that strengthen the Institute’s influence and thought leadership on corporate governance, leadership and related national development issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Engagement Strategy:
- Build, manage and sustain relationships with priority government, regulatory, private-sector, professional and institutional stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, collaborations and institutional engagements.
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans aligned with CIoD Nigeria’s mandate and strategic priorities.
- Advocacy & Policy Engagement:
- Monitor policy, regulatory and institutional developments relevant to CIoD Nigeria and identify implications and engagement opportunities.
- Support the development of policy briefs, position papers, stakeholder briefs, consultation submissions and other advocacy materials.
- Coordinate advocacy initiatives aimed at advancing the Institute’s approved policy priorities and institutional objectives.
- Support engagement with government officials, policymakers, regulators and other decision-makers on corporate governance and leadership matters.
- Engagement Programmes & Representation:
- Represent CIoD Nigeria at relevant stakeholder engagements, meetings, conferences and policy platforms as assigned.
- Coordinate stakeholder meetings, policy dialogues, roundtables, consultations, courtesy visits and related engagement activities.
- Support programmes and forums designed to advance the Institute’s advocacy agenda.
- Stakeholder Intelligence, Coordination & Reporting:
- Contribute to strengthening CIoD Nigeria’s institutional voice and thought leadership.
- Maintain an accurate stakeholder database, relationship map and engagement tracker.
- Prepare reports, briefs and updates on engagements, advocacy activities, stakeholder feedback and outcomes.
- Work with relevant Directorates to ensure coordinated stakeholder engagement and avoid duplication of institutional relationships.
- Key Performance Indicator
- Policy briefs, position papers and stakeholder materials produced to agreed standards and timelines.
- Advocacy initiatives delivered against approved priorities.
- Number and quality of strategic stakeholder engagements and institutional relationships developed/maintained.
- Quality and timeliness of stakeholder engagement plans and deliverables.
- Management satisfaction with stakeholder intelligence, briefs and reporting.
- Accuracy and currency of stakeholder database and engagement tracker.
- Strategic partnerships and collaboration opportunities identified and supported.
- Stakeholder engagement outcomes, follow-through and relationship continuity.
- Academic & Professional
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Law, Management or another relevant discipline.
- Postgraduate degree in the above or a related discipline is compulsory.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIoD, NBA, NIM, ICSAN or another relevant professional association is an advantage.
- Sound judgement, strategic thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Strong policy analysis, research, briefing and report-writing capability.
- Strong relationship-management, networking, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive stakeholder relationships with discretion and professionalism.
- Good knowledge of the operating environment of professional and membership-based organisations.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and executive engagement skills.
- Strong programme/project management and coordination skills.
- Strong understanding of stakeholder engagement, advocacy, public policy and institutional relations.
