Job Summary
The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to coordinate technical activities to ensure efficient project delivery and reliable energy solutions for customers.
The role involves providing technical guidance to other technicians, ensuring compliance with safety standards, conducting site assessments, and resolving complex technical issues.
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Senior Technician to join our Technical Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and executing the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) panels, inverters, batteries, and related electrical components.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior technicians to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with established procedures.
- Monitor the quality of completed installations and ensure that systems meet required performance and safety standards.
- Identify recurring technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions to improve system performance and operational efficiency.
- Conduct periodic site visits and respond to customer service requests and emergency technical issues as required.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and installation manuals.
- Repair or replace defective components and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
- Monitor installation and maintenance activities to ensure adherence to technical standards, company policies, and health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate technical assignments and ensure the timely completion of installation and maintenance projects.
- Lead and supervise the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of solar PV systems, including solar panels, inverters, batteries, charge controllers, and associated electrical components.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical faults involving solar systems, electrical wiring, inverters, batteries, and other equipment.
- Provide customers with guidance on system operation, basic troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Conduct system testing and performance verification after installation, maintenance, or repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and system diagnostics to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to determine installation requirements, system capacity, and project feasibility.
- Prepare technical reports and provide recommendations for system upgrades, repairs, and improvements.
- Collaborate with the Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams to support project planning, execution, and successful delivery.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, battery storage technologies, electrical wiring, and related components.
- Strong communication and team coordination skills.
- HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and solar system faults.
- Willingness to travel to customer locations and project sites as required.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards, installation procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet project deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Previous experience supervising or providing technical guidance to junior technicians.
- Relevant technical certifications in solar installation, electrical systems, or renewable energy are an advantage.
- Proven experience installing, commissioning, and maintaining residential, commercial, or industrial solar power systems.
- Good problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation, electrical systems, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with solar monitoring systems and basic performance-analysis tools.
- Knowledge of different inverter technologies, battery storage systems, and solar charge controllers.
- Experience conducting system performance assessments and recommending corrective actions.
- Experience working with residential, commercial, or industrial solar power systems.
