Job Title: Technical Assistant to the Knowledge Management and Communication Officer
Location: Idi-Aba Abeokuta, Ogun
Estimated Duration of the Assignment: twelve (12) months with the possibility of extension based on program needs, satisfactory performance and conduct
Background
The Ogun State Government through the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has secured a facility from the African Development Bank (AfDB), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to implement a five-year AfDB/IFAD/ISDB-Assisted Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Program in partnership with Private Investors.
The Agro-Industrial Processing Hub (AIH) will draw its processing feedstock from the ATCs where activities of the production clusters and Aggregation Centres are being coordinated.
The SAPZ is made up of two building blocks which include the Agricultural Transformation Centres (ATCs), which are community-based rural institution within the host community, equipped with desirable infrastructure to create modern agro-processing environment where secondary value addition will take place.
It is a strategic move to rapidly develop modern Agro-processing capacity to serve the vast and growing local markets, create sustainable market for farmers and reduce post-harvest losses of local agricultural produce and thereby create wealth for farmers, promote import substitution and create sustainable agriculture-related jobs.
This clustering approach is to help address investment challenges in the development of agro- processing enclaves across Nigeria, including poor access to quality infrastructure, inadequate feedstock supplies and other challenges confronting agro-processing environment SAPZS, therefore, will be developed with requisite infrastructure for agro processing environment which will help reduce cost absorptions and engender competitiveness in agro-industrial production that is critical to further unlocking the potentials of Nigeria's agriculture to create ready markets and wealth for farming communities and reduce rural poverty.
The seven (7) participating states of Imo, Kaduna, Cross River, Kwara, Oyo and Ogun as well as the Federal Capital Teritory (FCT) in the first phase of program implementation.
The implementation of a government-enabled/private sector driven SAPZS is a major investment program of the Federal Government of Nigeria, driven by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) in collaboration with relevant Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to develop agro-processing clusters in areas of high agricultural production across the country.
Scope of Service and Responsibilities
The TA will work under the direct supervision of the KMC and in close collaboration with other State specialists in the SPIUS, and relevant stakeholders and report through the State Officer to the State Programme Coordinator.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Knowledge Management Support:
Assist in maintaining, updating, and organizing knowledge databases, document repositories, and digital storage systems.
Support the implementation of the State Knowledge Management and Communication (KMC) Strategy and annual KMC work plans.
Assist in synthesizing programme information for reports, briefs, newsletters, website content, and social media updates.
Support the documentation of innovative practices, success stories, field experiences, and lessons learnt.
Assist in organizing learning events, review workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and capacity-building activities.10
Support the development and application of guidelines on information collection, documentation, and dissemination.
Communication and Visibility Support:
Help maintain effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders.
Support the design and dissemination of communication products (flyers, posters, brochures, knowledge notes, etc.).
Develop basic content for social media platforms and update online communication channels.
Assist in planning and coordinating communication and visibility activities such as newsletters, IEC materials, campaigns, and community sensitization.
Support media relations, including drafting press releases, coordinating media coverage, and maintaining a media contact database.
Information Management and Reporting:
Support staff in data collection, processing, and organization using approved KMC tools and templates.
Support the integration of information systems with PME systems to ensure consistency between reporting, monitoring, and knowledge-sharing outputs.
Ensure proper filing and archiving of digital and hard-copy KMC documents.
Assist in preparing periodic KMC progress updates, monitoring sheets, and reports.
ICT and Technical Support:
Provide basic troubleshooting assistance for ICT tools related to KMC processes.
Assist in identifying and organizing ICT needs for KMC activities, including digital tools and platforms.
Support the updating and maintenance of the Programme website, shared drives, and internal communication platforms.
Administrative and Coordination Support:
Assist in logistical arrangements for KMC-related events, missions, workshops, and meetings.
Maintain an updated inventory of KMC and communication materials.
Perform any other duties assigned by the State KMC Officer to support the efficient functioning of the KMC Unit.
Liaise with consultants, service providers, and implementing partners under guidance from the State KMC Officer.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
Basic experience in photography, videography, and content creation will be an advantage.
Proficiency in MS Office packages and digital content tools.
Experience in agriculture, rural development, or donor-funded projects will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in communications, media, knowledge management, documentation, ICT support, or development communication, preferably in donor-funded (AfDB, IFAD, World Bank, etc.) projects
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with teams.
A minimum of Master's Degree in Communications, Journalism, ICT, Agricultural Extension, Mass Communication, Physics/telecommunication or related fields.

Appropriate skills and qualifications (academic record and general work experience) - 25 points
Making a total of 100 points.
Similar Experience working with any donor funded project (AfDB and World Bank, IFAD, etc) - 30 points
