We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Location: Adamawa
Job Summary
Evaluate herbicide efficacy and weed biology and develop sustainable cultural and mechanical practices that minimize crop-weed competition while protecting the local environment.
Designs and implements integrated weed management (IWM) strategies to protect sugarcane yield.
Play a critical role in controlling sugarcane flowering, preventing it in commercial fields to avoid severe sucrose yield losses.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities
- Identify and map problematic weed species in sugarcane estates, tracking changes in weed population dynamics and shifts in species over time.
- Train farm managers and technicians on safe pesticide applications, equipment calibration, and safety protocols.
- Develop and oversee the application of flowering inhibitors such as Ethephon to prevent or reduce floral initiation in commercial fields.
- Collect biometric data during crop growth, analyze field results using statistical software, and generate comprehensive reports for the Agronomy Manager.
- Monitor and study herbicide-resistant weeds, ensuring chemical programs rotate active ingredients effectively.
