Job Title: Well Engineer Advisor
Locations:
Delta, Lagos and Rivers
Key Accountabilities
- Participate in the production of technical and operational syntheses.
- Organize drills, assess rig readiness for emergencies, and lead HSE awareness actions.
- He shall be able to manage the Project, team, assess and document the conformity of the service in accordance with procedures and operating instructions established.
- Ensure respect for safety and environmental rules, safeguarding OERNL’s assets.
- Advise office and field teams on workover and completion program optimization, ensuring high standards of engineering integrity.
- Report and analyze any incident or anomaly, maintaining transparency.
- Ensure all operations are carried out in accordance with OERNL standards, HSEQ procedures, and good oilfield practice.
- Act as the interface for field and office communication.
- Validate rig-based reports and calculations, ensuring reliability of operational information (WDRs, cost follow-up sheets, etc.).
- Perform post-operational debriefings and prepare lessons-learned reports.
- Analyze downhole and surface data during well kill, fishing and other downhole and surface parameters, taking appropriate actions in case of abnormal trends.
- Review operational deliverables and initiate corrective actions as needed. • Provide required documents and reports to the company in due time.
- Report regularly to the workover & completion superintendent on progress and agree on corrective actions if necessary.
- Oversee remote safety and emergency systems, including rig safety emergency shutdown.
- Personally supervise delicate or risky operations and optimize activities in relation to engineering, geology, and reservoir entities.
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor daily workover activities.
- Coordinate workover and completion activities in line with the program, OERNL procedures, and best practices.
- Provide high-level technical oversight for high-risk operations including well kills, complex fishing strings, and reservoir interface operations.
- Review site performance metrics, participate in technical syntheses, and recommend alternative operational strategies.
- Monitor compliance with codes, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications.
- Manage HSE action plans and ensure personnel are familiar with reference documents, training, and accreditations.
- Anticipate potential problems and plan alternative strategies. • Compose and review OERNL operating procedures.Participate in operational decisions and contribute to workover and completion improvement plans.
Requirements
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Wellview data software, Compass or related engineering & well design software, and the Microsoft Office suite.
- A minimum of 10 years, high-risk drilling environments is preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, or a related engineering discipline. An MSc in petroleum/geology or a related engineering field is preferred.
- Certifications:
- Valid BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training)
- IWCF (International Well Control Forum) or IADC Well Cap Level 4 certification, renewed every two years.
