Job
Summary
The Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting, maintain accurate records, support financial reporting, ensure statutory compliance, and assist management with financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting: maintain books and the General Ledger; handle receipts, payments, journals and postings; prepare reconciliations (including bank); monitor payables, receivables, cash and bank transactions; keep financial records filed.
- Tax & compliance: assist with statutory and tax filings; ensure records meet Nigerian accounting and tax requirements; liaise with auditors and tax consultants.
- Audit & controls: coordinate with internal and external auditors; enforce financial policies; flag control weaknesses and recommend fixes.
- Reporting: prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow); analyse revenues, expenses and variances; support month-end and year-end close.
- Budgeting: assist with budgets and forecasts; track spend against budget and explain variances; support cost control.
- Inventory: maintain stock and inventory records; reconcile physical stock to books; monitor valuation; work with Procurement, Stores, Production, Logistics and Operations departments.
Requirements
Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, financial analysis).
Hands-on experience with General Ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, payables, receivables and month-end close.
Accurate, detail-focused, able to work independently and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of accounting principles and Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
Experience with ERP/accounting software.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
ICAN / ACCA / CIMA (full or part-qualified) is an advantage.
4–6years' accounting/finance experience, preferably in commodities trading, agriculture, logistics, manufacturing or FMCG.
Integrity, confidentiality and professional ethics.
Salary: N400,000 - N500,000 monthly.
