RovingHeights is seeking a friendly, organised, and customer-focused Bookstore Assistant to join our Kano store.
The successful candidate will support daily bookstore operations, assist customers with book selections, maintain accurate sales and inventory records, and contribute towards achieving the store’s sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide helpful book recommendations.
- Respond professionally to customer enquiries.
- Process sales accurately using the available payment and POS systems.
- Arrange books and maintain attractive, organised displays.
- Receive, label, shelve, and monitor stock.
- Support periodic stock counts and inventory reconciliation.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming store environment.
- Promote available books, offers, and store activities.
- Work with the team to achieve monthly sales targets.
- Prepare and submit assigned sales and operational reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
HND or bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution.
Completion of the NYSC programme.
Previous experience in retail, sales, customer service, or a bookstore is an advantage.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer literacy and attention to detail.
Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
An interest in books and reading is desirable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work weekends and public holidays according to the approved schedule.
