Job Description
- Goldsmine Hatchery, a division of Goldsmine4ril Petroleum & Agro Allied Ltd, seeks an experienced and responsible Breeder Farm Manager for an initial six-month fixed-term appointment.
- The successful candidate will oversee an established poultry breeder farm with approximately 2,000 parent-stock birds, ensuring effective flock management, optimal fertile egg production, proper feeding, biosecurity and efficient farm operations.
- The position requires a hands-on professional capable of independently managing the breeder unit, supervising farm personnel and maintaining accurate production records throughout the contract period.
Requirements
- Minimum of OND, HND or B.Sc. in Animal Science, Poultry Production, Agriculture or a related discipline. Candidates with substantial practical breeder farm experience may also be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in commercial poultry farming, preferably breeder or parent-stock management.
- Practical knowledge of breeder feeding, flock management, body-weight monitoring, egg production and fertility management.
- Good understanding of poultry health, vaccination schedules, disease prevention and biosecurity.
- Ability to supervise farm attendants and coordinate daily farm activities.
- Competence in maintaining egg production, mortality, feed consumption and flock performance records.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to reside on the farm premises, where company accommodation is provided.
- High integrity, discipline and accountability.
Key Accountabilities
Manage the daily operations of an established breeder farm of approximately 2,000 parent-stock birds.
Supervise feeding programmes, flock health, body-weight monitoring and general bird welfare.
Monitor fertile egg production, egg quality, collection, handling and storage.
Implement appropriate vaccination, medication and biosecurity programmes in coordination with veterinary professionals.
Supervise farm attendants, allocate duties and monitor staff performance.
Maintain accurate daily records of egg production, feed consumption, mortality, medication and other key performance indicators.
Monitor feed inventory, farm supplies and operational expenditure.
Identify and promptly report flock health problems, production abnormalities and operational risks.
Coordinate fertile egg supply and movement to the hatchery.
Prepare regular production and farm performance reports for management.
Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, equipment care and proper maintenance of farm facilities.
