Maidstone Farms is recruiting two Fish Farm Officers to carry out daily operations at our catfish farm.
This is a practical, on-site role working under the direction of the farm supervisor.
Key Accountabilities
- Feed fish according to agreed schedules and quantities, and monitor feeding response.
- Monitor fish health, growth and mortality, and submit accurate daily records through the farm's digital system.
- Weigh and record feed stocks, track usage and report shortages or discrepancies.
- Carry out water quality checks, water changes, pond cleaning and routine maintenance.
- Count, sample-weigh and grade fish, and keep stock records accurate.
- Prepare ponds for stocking and assist with receiving, acclimatising and monitoring fingerlings.
- Assist with harvesting, weighing, buyer collections and sales records.
- Support approved feed purchases, supplier checks and local sourcing activities.
- Maintain farm hygiene and biosecurity, report faults promptly, and assist with site improvement work as directed.
Requirements
- A qualification in Fisheries or Aquaculture, including a certificate, ND/OND, HND, BSc or equivalent.
- Practical experience in catfish farming, including feeding, fish handling and pond management.
- Ability to follow instructions, keep accurate records and work well with others.
- Confidence using a smartphone to enter farm records, upload photographs and follow assigned tasks.
- Willingness to carry out physically demanding outdoor farm work.
- Reliability, honesty and care when handling fish, feed and equipment.
- Remuneration
- Salary: N128,000 gross per month
- Benefits: On-site accommodation and a contributory pension scheme: Maidstone Farms contributes 10% of gross salary in addition to the stated salary, while the employee contributes 8%.
